Students Awarded J. C. Grose Memorial Scholarships for 2017
Grace Cronin, Alex Porter, Riley Robertson, Landon Stamper, and Kristen Tang of Main Street United Methodist Church are recipients of the J.C. Grose Memorial Scholarships for 2017. They were recognized at Main Street United Methodist Church during the morning worship service on August 13.
Grace is a Junior at UNC-Chapel Hill majoring in Biomedical Engineering. She is the daughter of Ann and Mike Cronin.
Alex is a Junior at UNC-Greensboro majoring in Environmental Studies. He is the son of Lori and Mark
Riley is a Senior at Guilford College majoring in Elementary Education. She is the daughter of Sandra Robertson.
Landon is a Sophomore at the University of South Carolina majoring in Journalism. He is the son of Tara and Chadwick Stamper.
Kristen is a Junior at UNC-Greensboro majoring in Religious Studies and Interior Architecture. She is the daughter of Betsy and Eric Tang.
The students have been very active in youth activities and missions as well as university and community activities.
The JC Grose Class announces that applications are open to award the sixth annual JC Grose Class Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship provides financial support to Main Street United Methodist members and children of members who are pursuing college degrees at an accredited 2 or 4 year institution of higher learning. The scholarship provides up to 1000 dollars for a student who has completed his or her freshman, sophomore, or junior years. Prior application award recipients may also apply for additional years of support by reapplying each summer and maintaining an acceptable grade point average. The deadline for scholarship applications is Tuesday, June 16, 2017, 5:00 PM. Main Street UMC parents and guardians, please make your students aware of this opportunity for financial help. Members of the JC Grose Class serve as the scholarship selection committee and will choose from applications submitted. The scholarship is funded through memorial gifts in memory of class members and other funds raised by the JC Grose Sunday School Class.
