Main Street Organist Carina Sturdy along with other students of Dr. Timothy Olsen will present the final organ concert in the Sounds of Summer Series this Sunday, August 20, at 7:00 pm at UNC School of the Arts, Winston-Salem. Let’s show Carina and Dr. Olsen that Main Street supports them! We will carpool from the MSUMC parking lot leaving at 6:15 pm. An on-campus Shuttle Service will transport us from the main UNCSA parking lot to Crawford Hall.

_____________

MSUMC organist, Carina Sturdy, is having a busy summer! When she is not here playing for summer worship at Main Street she is away at conferences studying and refining her organ and conducting technique. This week she is at Duke Chapel for the Royal School of Church Music in America’s Summer Course where she is serving as Assistant Organist/Conducting Scholar. Her responsibilities include some accompanying and conducting some of the student choirs, and she will play for parts of the worship services. This week-long event culminates in 11:00 Worship at Duke Chapel on Sunday, July 16 and a 4:00pm Evensong that same afternoon.

Earlier in June Carina went to the Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference of the American Guild of Organists where she was awarded second place in the Regional Competition for Young Organists. She also attended workshops and various recitals. Congratulation, Carina!
