Rev. Rick Carter

Rick has been the Associate Pastor at Main Street UMC in Kernersville, NC since 2006.  His primary areas of ministry are  Pastoral Care, Teaching, and Outreach.  Born in Mocksville, earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech, and a Master of Divinity from Duke University Divinity School, Rick received his call to the ministry at Mount Tabor UMC in Winston-Salem.

Rick has a real passion for teaching and participating in hands on missions and ministry.  Besides teaching Adult Sunday School, Wednesday Morning Bible Study, facilitating Disciple Bible studies, and the Pastor’s Book Club, Rick has served as a volunteer with the Samaritan Ministries homeless shelter,  KAIROS prison ministry, Appalachian Service Project (ASP), Habitat for Humanity, Great Day of Service at Mount Tabor UMC, and started Hands Together at Main Street UMC.

Rick has been married to Lynn Makepeace since 1989 and they have 2 daughters, Margaux and Caroline.  He also enjoys water skiing, boating, swimming, walking on the beach, snow skiing, travelling, reading, astronomy, Duke Basketball, and Virginia Tech Football.
