Rev. Amy Burton is a native of Hickory, NC and a graduate of Wake Forest University with a BA in economics and sociology. Following graduation from Wake Forest, she worked as the buyer for Simms Wholesale/Space Savers in Winston-Salem for several years before answering her call to full-time ministry. She then attended Pfeiffer University where she received a Masters in Christian Education and Methodist Theological School in Ohio where she received her basic Graduate Theological Studies.
Amy was ordained a deacon by the Western North Carolina Conference in 2006. She currently serves as Minister of Education at Main Street UMC- Kernersville. Her previous appointments and places of service include Grace UMC- Charlotte (1996-1999), Fair View UMC- Mt. Mourne (199-2002) and Dilworth UMC- Charlotte (2002-2007). In addition to her service in the local church, Rev. Burton has served on several district and conference committees including SPIRITUS, Conference Council on Youth Ministries, Yadkin Valley District Committee on Ordained Ministry, Yadkin Valley District on Superintendency and as a Residency in Ordained Ministry group facilitator.
